The ability which is offered by the internet, to share information and ideas, has brought upon a different spectrum to manufacturing and fabrication. The past decade has offered networking and partnerships, together with the technologies (related to digital fabrication) that have emerged, that have commenced a new era of Industrial Revolution, which is exrpessed socially by the Maker Movement, an emerging global community of makers.
We provide open access to anyone in return for a small monthly fee, while promoting the DIY (Do It Yourself) and DIT (Do It Together) mentality.
We focus on digital fabrication technologies and rapid prototyping of physical objects.
Within the makerspace “hands-on” educational workshops take place, with a goal of learning by doing.
A circular open economy, which enables social entrepreneurship to boost solidarity with common fare practices shown in places like makerspaces, where creative expression and generative ideas co-create value with and for its own productive community.
We hope that through partnerships and funding we will be able to move to a more appropriate space for our needs. As of today, the first steps have taken place in a pilot space, which is located in Kesariani, already engaging and creating an active and productive community of makers.
Tech Enthusiasts Geek Parents
We are proud to be a Non-Profit Organization (with great financial transparency). Based on our expertise and the demand of our city, we have decided to put our money into the hottest fields of technology, while we are on the mission to pursue funding, donations and sponsors. All income will go towards purchasing new equipment, as well as, the initial rental and utility costs of moving into a larger space.
Our New Home
We are planning to move in a larger space in Athens, tο cover our needs for our dreams. It will also offer access to lecture rooms, rental studios, storage, exhibition lofts etc.
We will organise local international festivals to promote local resources and professionals. We aim to provide free memberships to students and teachers, sponsor educational courses to schools and run summer camps. Also, work with the municipality towards practical and inspiring solutions for our public areas.
More of us
We wish to help develop and support other hackerspaces and makerspaces everywhere, as well as, in-school makerspaces. We believe that everybody should have access to such an equipped coworking environment, including all academic institutes. We hope to inspire students of all ages to become the next generation of makers and entrepreneurs.
The 2nd Industrial Revolution has dominated over craftmanship and the love for handmaking. This is about to change.
Digital Revoluntion (computer technology) meets manufacturing, giving birth to Digital Fabrication.
The ease at which designs for physical things can be shared digitally goes a long way towards explaining why the maker movement has already developed a strong culture.
The REAL revolution is not the CREATION of technology, but the DEMOCRATIZATION of technology.
